You could really get warm and cozy in this in great room with rustic stone fireplace and Douglas fir beams. For this residence, Vermont Timber Works provided timber frames for a great room, a porch, and an indoor pool. They collaborated with Tom Gillespie of CLA Engineers and John Higgens of Artisan Engineering on this project. Vermont Timber Works is located in North Springfield, Vermont. Our passion and goal at Timber Frame HQ is to enable you to experience the strength and honest beauty of these sustainable structures.
The exposed joists overhead frame the fireplace and define a cozy place to land in this high-volume great room. Tongue-in-groove wood paneling creates a warm glow, and the contrasting stone work makes the fireplace a focal point. Being our second full spring here on the farm, we have so many fun and exciting plans, we really have to ground ourselves because we are still a few weeks away and as much as I dislike losing sleep, the “spring forward” daylight savings time change means we are just that much closer, and we get that much more daylight before its time to hang it up for the day.
Whether it is a cool fall evening or a brisk winter day who wouldn’t love snuggling up with their favorite person by a warm fire inside this lovely timber frame pavilion. Turn the tv on and make it a “movie night”, the possibilities are endless. There is an unmistakable Tudor feeling in this gracious timber frame great room. The arched transom windows, high vaulted ceiling and dark-stained king post trusses with embellished braces create that old world character.
